Workshops

Beginners and quilters of all skill levels are welcome! Workshops are designed to teach you the basics of how to sew, while helping you to repurpose your collection of t-shirts, sweatshirts & sports jerseys into a life-long keepsake. Did we mention they’re also FUN & a GREAT EXPERIENCE with a partner, friend or family member? We primarily host these at our Williamstown, Massachusetts HQ, but check back for dates of us popping up in a city near you!

“My husband and I had NO previous quilting experience but with Stacey’s step by step guidance and coaching we created this amazing quilt!! We’re soon to be empty nesters who wanted to make good use of our daughters volleyball uniforms when we miss her away at college. We created this beauty!   • Tired of rolling up your jeans because they are too long? Come to the LGQ studio and allow us to TEACH YOU how to magically hem those favorite jeans while MAINTAINING THE ORIGINAL HEMLINE STITCHING! We’ve got everything you need here in the staid to get this task accomplished: several Bernina sewing machines and sergers, the proper Jeans Presser Feet, Jeans Needles and Jeans Thread, and a “Hump Jumper”—a nifty tool you’ll learn about in class :))

    Just bring yourself and your jeans and a smile. We’ve got everything else covered. Let’s Do This!

Bernina Q24 & Q-Matic Longarm Retreats and Classes

  • The memories from the Spring 2025 Longarm 3-Day Retreat at Little Gilly Quilts in Williamstown (MA) was one I will always cherish. The classes were taught by Valeria Guimaraes of the famed VG Quilting Facebook group. I learned many hands-on techniques, tips and tricks that will improve my longarm skills in the future. Our small group of 4 people made it personal, fun, and gave us the opportunity to get all of our questions answered. Our host, Stacey Gilfillan, made my stay extremely comfortable. Accommodations were outstanding and meal selection from a wide variety of takeout restaurants was excellent. Having breakfast prepared and lunch ordered kept us on task. We chose to order dinner in so we could relax at the house and share life experiences. Looking forward to future retreat opportunities.

  • I attended the first (March) session and I can't say enough about it! Valeria Guimaraes was amazing. She taught us everything from A to Z about Longarm quilting (on the Bernina Q24). I highly recommend if you get the chance to go, take it. Make sure you stay with Stacey Gilfillan. She was the perfect host and made us all so comfortable and welcomed.

  • I attended the March 3rd session. Well-worth the cost. Learned so much from Valeria. Never thought I wanted to do serious FMQ but after trying out Valeria's palm handles and what settings to use I want to try FMQ. We also learned a lot more to help in using Q-Matic! Stacey was a wonderful hostess. Beautiful area of Massachusetts. If you attend in the Fall the trees will be gorgeous.

  • I attended a 3 day longarm quilting class taught by Valeria Guimaraes at Little Gilly Quilts. It was a great experience all around to work on the 14' Bernina Q24 and learn digital quilting on the Q-Matic software. The space is so clean and comfortable. It was a joy to work on such a high-precision machine and I ended up quilting a really lovely sample and learned a ton!

  • I attended a March Valeria retreat as well. It was THE best learning experience and retreat that I’ve ever been to. Stacey and Valeria Guimaraes make quite a team. My husband drove me from CT and we both stayed at Stacey’s beautiful home. I went to class while he relaxed, read books, went on walks and enjoyed the surrounding nature landscape. It’s not to be missed if you have or are interested in a Bernina Qmatic.
